Android M codenamed as Marshmallow, Version 6.0
Finally Google announced the codename of Android M as Marshmallow. An Android Muscat carrying Marshmallow has been arrived to Google’s lawn where previous Android versions muscats are present. The upcoming Android revision comes as version number 6.0 and not as 5.2 as rumored earlier. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be rolling out various Nexus devices in this fall. Samsung, HTC, Sony and Motorola may release this major update to their devices after the Nexus devices got the update. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow SDK with API level 23 is now available to developers. The final developer preview or developer preview 3 has also been released by the Search giant today. So Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 users who have installed the Android 6.0 preview will receive this final update in a few hours.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is bringing big changes in Android history with its new app permissions. These make easier to install an app without any dialog box about permissions and also users can give necessary permissions to app while using it. The new Doze mode of Marshmallow save more battery than Android Lollipop battery saver by putting phone in deeper sleep when not in use. It is an intelligent battery saving mode and works great. The upcoming Android operating system is coming with full support for Fingerprint sensor and Android Pay. It also supports the Type-C USB ports which gives faster data transfer and fast charge. New Google chrome tabs gives better user experience to use chrome browser in a small window over the app and users don’t have to switch between the app and browser. Update on 10/9/2015 :
According to a latest report, Android Marshmallow won’t feature dark User Interface theme in the final release. This dark theme was available in early preview of Android 6.0 but absent in later previews. Now it will be absent in final build too. But Google said that in building future updates they will consider the dark UI option. So further updates after Android 6.0 may feature the dark UI feature.
Update on 17/9/2015 :
Google updated the Google App with Now on Tap and Marshmallow UI. The app is currently available in playstore for download and requires Android 4.4+ to work perfectly. But new features of the app works only with Android Marshmallow developer preview 3 and not with earlier versions. The Now on Tap functionality improves user experience. Users can search useful information without leaving the current app with Now on Tap function. New Google app will come inbuilt with Marshmallow update and then more details about the app will be revealed. You can see the new Marshmallow launcher below.
