Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is now official
Qualcomm confirmed its upcoming highend chipset, Snapdragon 820. Actually the existence of Snapdragon 820 had been confirmed in January by a leaked document. Recently some alleged benchmark scores of Snapdragon 820 also revealed. Now the Chipset giant revealed more official details about this Snapdragon 820 which powers most flagships like Xperia Z6, HTC One M10, Galaxy S7 which are set for next year’s release. Snapdragon 820 will contain custom 64-bit Kryo cores, so that we won’t see Cortex cores in the next Snapdragon chipset. But the clock speed of Kryo cores and the number of cores in the chipset are still mystery. Probably Qualcomm is going to release Snapdragon 820 with four Kryo cores with clock speed 3.0 Ghz.
Qualcomm revealed some exclusive details about the Adreno 530 GPU present in Snapdragon 820 SoC. The new GPU works 40% faster than its predecessor and also 40% less power than its predecessor. The new GPU supports OpenGL 3.1 and the Vulcan API too. The Snapdragon 820 will be built on 14nm FinFET process or 16nm process. The GPUs in this chipset supports HDMI 2.0 and can give output 4K@60fps and they also give 4K at 30fps wirelessly. Spectra Camera Image Signal Processor is the upgraded part of SD 820. This feature now manage small camera pixels, hybrid autofocus (added phase detection AF) and low-light performance better. Like its predecessor SD 820 also supports dual rear cameras.
