Motorola Moto G6 Plus Specs, Features and Release Date

Moto G6 Plus is the upcoming flagship from Motorola. Moto G6 Plus is the Sixth Smartphone in Moto G series and the successor of Moto G5 Plus. Recently Motorola unveiled Moto G5 Plus and G5 mid rangers.

Now we will roundup some expected specs and features of Moto G6 Plus. Moto G6 Plus will come with metal uni-body design and look like premium smartphone. So it also might be water proof and dust proof.

Display and Screen

Previously Moto G4 and G4 Plus arrived with 5.5 inch display. But in Moto G5 Plus, the display size will be 5.2 inch according to rumours. So in the successor of G5 Plus also there might 5.2 inch display or 5.3 inch display. Motorola used 720p resolution in First three generations of Moto G series and 1080p resolution in Moto G4 series. According to leaks, the same 1080p (FullHD) resolution also used in Moto G5 Plus. So Moto G6 Plus may also feature the same FHD resolution. But screen will be calibrated better compared to Moto G4 and G5 Plus. Display may be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Due to Gorilla Glass 5, Moto G6 display offers better strength than Moto G5 and G4 Plus.


Previously, Moto G4 Plus feature 16MP rear camera with Dual tone flash, f/2.0 aperture lens and 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture lens. Moto G5 Plus sports 12MP Primary Camera with Dual tone flash, f/1.7 aperture lens and 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. So the Moto G6 Plus may come with 14MP Rear camera with dual tone flash and f/1.5 aperture lens. 8MP Front Camera with front LED flash and f/1.7 aperture lens might be also present.


Previously, Moto G4 Plus powered by Snapdragon 617 chipset and boasts 3GB Ram. Latest Moto G5 Plus comes with Snapdragon 625 chipset beating in its heart and 3GB Ram. So Moto G6 Plus mid-ranger may be powered by Snapdragon 653 which is an Octa core chipset. Snapdragon 653 which is the pro version of SD 652, contains four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.95 Ghz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 Ghz. Dual image signal processor also present in SD 653. It also contains Adreno 510 GPU and X9 Modem. X9 LTE modem supports Cat. 7 download speeds upto 300 Mbps and upload speeds upto 150 Mbps. So Moto G6 Plus will offer higher LTE speeds, better performance than Moto G5 Plus.


Moto G5 Plus is launched in 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD support. So Moto G6 Plus may also come in 32GB and 64GB internal memory variants. Motorola may use UFS memory in the next mid-ranger to improve memory read and write speeds. The next Moto G contains microSD slot and supports microSD upto 256 GB. More details about the internal memory of the Moto G Plus (6th Generation) will be revealed soon.


The predecessor of Moto G6 Plus came with 3000 mAh non-removable battery. So Moto G6 Plus may come with Non-removable 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery. It also supports Quickcharge 3.0.

Quick Charge 3.0

Moto G6 Plus is coming with Quick Charge 3.0 support which reduces charges much faster. Quick charge 3.0 is about 40% faster than Quick Charge 1.0 and much power efficient than Quick Charge 2.0 and 1.0. The INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage) feature of Quick Charge 3.0 supports any voltage between 3.2 V and 20 V at 200 mV increments. So the next Moto G device will charge quickly and also efficiently.


Moto G6 Plus may come in two internal memory variants : 32GB and 64GB. In India, 32GB internal memory variant might be priced around Rs. 12000/- and 64GB internal memory variant might be priced around Rs. 14000/-. In the US, Moto G6 Plus price may start from $220. Full price list of the upcoming mid-ranger from Motorola will be revealed in coming days.

According to latest leaks and reliable reports, Lenovo owned Motorola is going to unveil Moto G5 and G5 Plus mid-rangers on February 26th at MWC 2017. Previously, Moto G4 Plus was unveiled in May 2016. So Motorola may unveil the successor of Moto G5 Plus in January 2017 at CES 2017.
