Android 8 O for Moto Z Release Date and Features
Motorola Moto Z flagship is released with inbuilt Android 6.0 Marshmallow and upgraded to Android Nougat in January and February. According to some rumours, Motorola may start the soak test of Android 7.1.1 for Moto Z soon in some regions. Android O will be the next major android update for Moto Z devices.
Google unveiled the First Developer preview of Android O on March 21st exclusively for developers. Further, the Second Developer preview has been unveiled on May 19th at Google I/O. The Public Beta of Android O also has been released on May 19th. The third and fourth previews of Android 8 arrived on June 9th and July 24th, respectively. According to Dave Burke, the final release of Android O will come in the late summer. Some reports also indicate that Android O will be released in Second or Third weeks of August.
Android O Refinements
Google primarily focuses on providing fluid like experiences with the Android O update. Along with the battery saving refinements, some new features like Picture in Picture mode, Notification channels and Smart text selection are also coming with the Android 8 update. But some Pixel and Nexus 5X users have reported that the fourth preview with near final system behaviours is still buggy and draining too much battery. The Android Engineering team may have fixed these problems before the final release.
The Android Engineering Team revealed during the AMA session that there will be no dark mode in the final Android 8 Build due to some technical difficulties. Android 8 operating system is coming with many upgrades regarding Bluetooth. The new Hi-Fi Bluetooth codecs coming with Android O include Qualcomm’s aptX, aptX HD, Sony’s LDAC, AAC and SBC. Along with these codecs, there are many refinements in Android O to improve Bluetooth Audio Quality.
Moto Z Android O Release
Motorola is currently rolling out the Android 7.1.1 update to the devices in India, Brazil, Indonesia and Hong Kong, according to the reports from some Moto Z users. As Android O comes in August 2017, Motorola may begin the soak test in December in only some regions.
The unlocked Moto Z devices in the US previously got the Nougat update in the first week of February, so this time they probably receive Android O in January 2018. In India and Brazil, Motorola earlier rolled out the Android 7.0 update in December 2017. So the 8th iteration of Android may reach the Moto Z devices in India and Brazil in the Q1 of 2018. The Carrier locked Moto Z users may have to wait for some more time to get the update. The rollout dates are always subject to change due to unforeseen technical problems.
