Moto G 2nd Gen or Moto G 2014 upgraded to Android Lollipop in last year. Some carriers rolled out the Android Lollipop update in the starting of this year too. But GPE of Moto G2 had received this update within One month from the launch of Android Lollipop by Google. Recently Motorola also has started the soak tests of Android 5.1.1 for Moto G2 in some regions in US, Europe and Middle East. In some regions the soaktest has completed successfully and the full rollout also has started. So Moto G2 Google play editions will receive Android Marshmallow in October similar to Moto G3 according to this report.

The unlocked and Retail editions of Moto G 2014 in the US and in Europe will receive the Android Marshmallow update in December as Motorola follows priority order and Moto G3 will be its top priority. The carrier editions of Moto G2 will receive the update at the beginning of 2016. Retail editions in India and Middle east countries will receive the next Android update at the beginning of 2016.

Motorola may alter the current schedule in coming days. So we will update if Motorola make any changes in the schedule. So keep visiting regularly.

The Moto G3 user who has received the Marshmallow update said that he hasn’t noticed any bugs yet. More details about the soak tests of Marshmallow for Moto G series and Moto X series devices will be revealed soon.

Google Now on Tap is working perfectly in the Moto G 2nd Gen devices which are running on Marshmallow. He also said that in a few weeks, the soak test will be completed and full rollout of Android 6.0 for Moto X Pure (2015) will start. But still there is no word on the final rollout dates of Android 6.0 for Moto X Style and Moto X 2nd Gen devices which are currently under soak test in a few regions. Users are expecting that Motorola may start the full rollout of Android 6.0 for Moto X Pure (3rd Gen), Moto X Style and Moto X 2nd Gen devices by the end of this month.

So in a few days, full rollout of Marshmallow might be started for Moto G3 and G2 devices. Currently Motorola is running soak tests of Android 6.0 for Moto G 2nd Gen and Moto G 3rd Gen devices. Update on 7/12/2015 :

Google released the factory images of Android 6.0.1 update for some Nexus devices. The Official Nexus factory Images page is showing that Android 6.0.1 is now available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player devices. Some users already started receiving the update through OTA also. As the OTA rollout proceeds in phases, some users may have to wait some time to download the Android 6.0.1 update. This update carries new emoji icons for Nexus devices as revealed some earlier leaks. Android 6.0.1 brings quick Camera launch for Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013), 9 and Player devices. With this feature users can launch Camera app just by clicking the power button twice. This feature already available in the latest Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P devices. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update also includes some bug fixes and minor improvements. Actually Google released Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for Android One devices in November.

Motorola is still running soak tests of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for some Moto G devices in some regions. As the final rollout hasn’t started yet, Motorola may add Android 6.0.1 improvements and bug fixes to the final update. Previously Motorola skipped Android 5.0 Lollipop and rolled out the Android 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 updates to Moto G 2nd Gen devices in some regions. But Motorola hasn’t confirmed about Android 6.0.1 yet, we have to wait until Motorola confirmed it.

Update on 13/12/2015 :

The clock in the devices which have installed Android 6.0 is running slowly according to some users. On some Nexus devices, the clock is running slowly by about 30 mins. This time difference shows large effect on Alarms and event reminders from Calender. But Google has fixed this bug in the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. So after updating to Android 6.0.1, the clock in the Nexus devices is running correctly. So Motorola may include this fix in the Marshmallow updates before the rollout.

Motorola has started the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to some Moto X Style devices in Europe as a part of soak test. David Schuster posted in Google+ that they have started the soak test of Marshmallow for Moto X Style in these countries : Italy, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Albania, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Netherlands, France, UK. Actually Moto X Style is the international version Moto X Pure Edition (2015) of the US. We have already told that Moto X Pure is receiving the update in the US. Previously in India and Brazil, Motorola deployed the Marshmallow update for Moto X Style flagship.

Previously, Motorola started the soak test of Marshmallow for Moto X 2nd gen devices in Brazil. Now David also told that the soak test for Moto X 2nd Gen Retail devices has been spread to these countries : India,Germany, UK, Spain, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Mexico, Poland, Singapore, Sweden, France along with carrier channels of Nextel Colombia, Claro Brazil, TIM Brazil, Telcel Mexico, Oi Brazil, Claro PR, Claro Colombia. So it seems that by the end of this year, Motorola is going to rollout the Marshmallow update for Moto X Style, Moto X Play and Moto X 2nd Gen Retail editions. But still there is no word about the Android 6.0 update for Moto G2 and Moto G3 devices. Probably Motorola announces about it by the end of this month.
